I absolutely LOVE in-home sessions!

In-home sessions get to tell your story, from the comfort of your home.

They get to showcase your newest family member

with their parents, siblings, and sometimes even pets!

My goal is to create meaningful, storytelling, and timeless portraits

that speak directly to what life looked like bringing your little miracle home.

In-home newborn sessions are unique to each family.

What to wear:

  • Simple is best. Comfort is key.
  • When it comes to what to wear for lifestyle newborn photos think about yourself and your family and what your overall style is. What are you most comfortable in...
  • Keep colors neutral but don’t be afraid to add a little bit of color!
  • Whites, creams, grey, and subdued colors always photograph the best.
  • Try and avoid bright and bold colors (neons), super dark colors like black and navy blue and big patterns and shirts with large logos on them because all that can take away from the overall feel and look of your images. We want the focus to be on you and your little one.
  • First, dress your baby in a simple white onesie, so I can get started with photos of them in the nursery or even your bed.
  • We can even do a photo with only his/her diaper on.
  • After that, we can dress your baby in a cute outfit of your choice.

How to prep:

  • The best time for in-home sessions are during daylight hours, usually in the morning (starting your session between 9am - 1pm usually gives the best light and happiest baby!)
  • Try and feed your baby shortly before your session time. This ensures baby has a full belly and will hopefully be content and cooperative for pics!
  • If you would like any feeding/nursing pictures, we absolutely can do this at the beginning of the session…so hold off feeding your baby until I get there and we’ll get some feeding/nursing pics done first!
  • I like to have clients pick one or two rooms that have the best natural light.
  • Master bedrooms, living rooms and baby’s nursery are most common.
  • Opening all blinds and curtains before my arrival will help me to figure out which spaces are best for natural light.
  • I love natural light and we will be embracing your home’s natural light.
  • I also love to document all the adorable elements of your nursery. The mobile that was handpicked, the blanket knitted by Grandma, the wooden blocks that spell out your baby's name etc.
  • Set aside any props you want to have used in the session, like sentimental stuffed animals, etc
  • Please do not feel the need to deep clean your entire house before I come. Your home should look “lived in”, not pristine.
  • However, if you can, try and declutter items on counters/floors in the spaces you’d like me to photograph in. Things to declutter - bedside tables, cords, dressers and countertops.
  • Less is more when it comes to these type sessions.
  • If I see a spot I want to shoot and there is stuff in the way I will happily move things around or direct where things should go.
  • Keep in mind your bedding. If you have a plain sheet/blanket/comforter definitely bust that out and lay it on top. The reason being, bright and bold colors will cast shadows and colors on skin, leaving a tint of whatever color the blanket is. So if you can, keep it simple and plain. Whites and creams are always ideal to ensure esthetically please images to the eye.
  • If possible, try and keep your house warmer than usual. I've found that babies are so much happier in a warm environment. This allows for your baby to be comfortable for any naked/diaper pictures and isn’t so upset to have their clothes changed.
  • If you want to include your dog(s) and/or cats in your session, I am all for it! Just be sure that you have some high reward treats on hand.
  • Don't worry about posing. I will help guide you with interactive prompts and or just observe the natural ways you interact with each other.
  • I cannot stress enough about the candid and documentary nature of this lifestyle session.

I cannot emphasize enough the lifestyle nature of this session:

There is little to no posing

We will do lots and lots of candid photo's.

My focus is truly just capturing your new life at home with your newest family member!
